The Employability and Fragile Literacies (E-FraLit) project aims to promote the employability of individuals with fragile literacy skills through an integrated psycho-linguistic intervention model. With the collaboration of local partners such as ENAIP Padua, CPIA Verona, Veneto Lavoro, and Rete TanteTinte, the project focuses on two main populations: adults with specific learning disorders (SLDs) and individuals with migrant backgrounds who have learned Italian as a second language.
The project has three main phases: pre-intervention, intervention, and post-intervention. In the pre-intervention phase, research teams from the Department of Cultures and Civilizations and the Department of Human Sciences at the University of Verona will conduct systematic reviews of scientific literature, best practices and policies at the European and national levels, focusing on key psychological constructs and literacy skills that influence employability. In addition, ethical and legal aspects related to employment inclusion policies for people with literacy frailty will be examined.
The intervention phase will involve the development and implementation of specific training programs to improve participants' psychological resources and literacy skills. These programs will include training sessions to increase the psychological capital (PsyCap) of participants, activities aimed at improving reading and writing skills for individuals with DSA and L2 Italian language learners. Collaboration with ENAIP will provide added value by offering individualized coaching to improve job placement opportunities for unemployed participants.
In the post-intervention phase, the literacy skills and employability of the participants will again be analyzed to assess the effectiveness of the intervention model. The results of the intervention will be examined through statistical measures and analysis of objective indicators related to participants' employment status. This will enable the development of evidence-based guidelines to support innovative employment integration policies.
The E-FraLit project is a crucial initiative to address the employment and social inclusion challenges of people with fragile literacy skills by providing an intervention model that combines psychological and linguistic approaches to improve employability and reduce discrimination of vulnerable groups. Dissemination of results will take place through the publication of scientific articles, open reports, and the organization
