Giorgia Decarli graduated in Law from the University of Trento and holds a PhD in Anthropology, History and Theories of Culture (from the Italian Institute of Human Sciences). Since 2023 she has been qualified to hold the position of Associate Professor in Demo-ethnoanthropological Sciences and since 2019 she has been an accredited cultural expert witness with relative registration in the Court of Trento. Since 2010, she has been a permanent member of the Centre for Ethnographic Research and Applied Anthropology ‘Francesca Cappelletto’ (CREAa) at the University of Verona, Department of Human Sciences where, since 2015, she has also been the scientific coordinator of the ‘Research Group on Roma and Sinti Recognition Policies (IusRom)’. Since 2024 she is member of the scientific committee of the Bersntoler Kulturinstitut. Giorgia Decarli has conducted field work in Africa and Europe. Her scientific interests include the relation bewteen human rights and cultural diversity, anthropology of discrimination and minority rights, anti-nomadism and anti-Gypsyism. She is the author of monographs and articles published in international scientific journals. She is currently a research fellow at the University of Verona where she also teaches (on contract) cultural anthropology.
