Curriculum

Marco Ubbiali, PhD, focuses his work on philosophy of education, school pedagogy, ethics of care applied to educational contexts and qualitative research with a phenomenological framework. He is a member of CRED (Center for Educational Research and Education) and a founding member of Melete - Center of Ethics for Care at the University of Verona. He is a member of associations at the national (SIPED; SIPEGES) and international (AME -Association for Moral Education) levels.

Research groups

MelArete – virtue ethics
The research group “MelArete – virtue ethics” is aimed at designing and conducting educative researches on ethical, spiritual and political education, creating and evaluating educative paths useful for schools (“service research”). The inquiries conducted by the group collect and nurture the richness of children’s thought about great ethical themes (different virtues and the concepts of good, care, friendship, spirituality and politics), working together with teachers and for them, in order to bring these themes at the heart of educational practices.

Qualitative research in education Develop a theory and tools for the practice of qualitative research in educational contexts. The competency makes particular reference to the theorization of research that responds to the pedagogical specificity of action and respects ethical characteristics that make it an opportunity for educational enrichment for participants. Service learning and Community engagement To deep theory and practice of Service learning and Community engagement in scientific debate, and in their application in educational contexts, schools and universities. To build a model of Service learning in the university courses, and to monitor, through empirical researches, their educative value relating to students learning, and their performative value for school and community contexts.
