Children’s and young people’s literature scholar. His areas of interest include: history and grammar of picturebooks and illustrated books for all target ages; children’s poetry; some “children’s classics” including “The Story of a Puppet: Or, the Adventures of Pinocchio”; distinctive and innovative features of classical and contemporary illustrators (e.g. Beatrix Potter, De Brunhoff, Munari, Lionni, Ungerer, Sendak, Corentin, C. Johnson, Oxenbury, Quarello, Sanna, Rotraut Berner, Bachelet) and authors (e.g. Collodi, Kipling, Spinelli, Westall, Milani, Paulsen, Morpurgo, Burgess, Formentini, Piumini, Tognolini, Cinquetti, Carminati, Ferrara, D’Adamo); young-adult fiction.
Academic expertise in: Reading pedagogy (reading promotion methods and techniques, literary read-aloud techniques, reading paths); evolution, dynamics and critical issues of contemporary children’s publishing.
