The aim of the course is to illustrate theoretical and methodological basis underlying the use of investigation techniques in developmental psychology, in particular about observation. Moreover, the aim is to foster the knowledge of observation and evaluation about children in different contexts.
The course will deal with the following themes:
-concept of observation
-theoretical approaches
-participants, contexts and procedures
-coding schemes and data gathering
-reliability and validity
-child behavior: observation instruments
-child behavior: evaluation instruments
