Educational Psychology is that discipline which applies knowledge of mental neural and social processes to learning in educational contexts. The course is aimed at introducing students to knowledge, techniques and methods employed in this discipline, with the purpose of offering not only theoretical bases but also practical knowledge and techniques useful to the educational profession.
1.First part:
1.Development, maturation and learning: the relationship between maturational and environmental factors in the learning process of the child;
2.Intelligence and learning: what’s intelligence? Innatist, constructivists and contextualists conceptions of intelligence and their educational implications.
3.Mental and cultural processes: the cultural origin of higher mental functions, the influence of cultural practices on the developmental and educative processes of the child
2.Second Part:
1.Individual differences in learning: why intervention is effective with some individuals and not with other? Why different children learn in different ways?
2.The assessment of learning: how to assess learning (looking at methods and tools in Educational Psychology)
3. Motivational aspects of the learning process: extrinsic and intrinsic motivation
4. Literacy: to teach reading and writing.
