Learning outcomes

The course aims at providing the students with (a) the basic concepts concerning the debate on political issues and (b) some analytical tools necessary to carry out the cultural analysis of the “struggles for identity”, with specific reference to the constructions of alterities.

Syllabus

The anthropological approach to the political issues will be studied starting from the analysis of the “intercultural abysms” that are considered insuperable. Specifically, we will study “orientalism” and “ziganism” as contrasting alterities salient for the development of European cultural and political identities.
