Learning outcomes

introduction to the subject through the presentation of some important steps of the scientific development and to the following philosophic problems.

Syllabus

Contents of the course: history of philosophy and science (philosophy of science in the ancient and medieval thought; Galilei and Newton; positivism; crisis of the concept of science unity). Themes of philosophy of science (logics and philosophy of science; models; the philosophical discussion following the relativity theory; probability; Poincaré and Carnap).
