Learning outcomes

providing a general overview of the main authors and schools of ancient philosophy, along with the knowledge of philosophic terminology and critical use of the original text.

Syllabus

Contents of the course: notions about knowledge and ignorance in the pre-platonic era; concept of knowledge in poetic, technical, political and philosophic senses; notion of anthropìne sophìa (human knowledge) in Socrates’s Apology by Plato; consequences of such knowledge.
