Daniela Raccanello is an associate professor in developmental and educational psychology at the Department of Human Sciences. Her research focuses on the processes of development of emotions along the whole life course, according to a theoretical and applied perspective. Research competence relates to:
(a) Processes of development regarding the psychology of emotions and motivation in learning contexts, specifically in the school. The focus is on achievement emotions and achievement goals.
(b) Psychology of emotional development. The focus is on development of both emotional competence, as the ability to express, understand, and regulate emotions, and representation of naïf concepts regarding disadvantaged persons, migration processes, relationship between body and cognition (e.g., stranger, adoption, wellbeing and suffering).
(c) Psychology of traumatic events. Regarding traumatic events (e.g., natural and technological disasters, terrorism), the focus is on their memory and representation, and emotional prevention, in children and adults.
