Stefania Pontrandolfo holds a PhD in Anthropologie sociale et ethnologie from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris. She has participated in various roles, including coordination, in national and international research projects (The Education of the Gypsy Childhood in Europe - OPREROMA; Explaining Low Fertility in Italy - ELFI; The immigration of Romanian Roma to Western Europe: Causes, effects, and future engagement strategies - MigRom; Early Marriage between Dynamism of Social Network and Legal Autonomy: The case of transnational Romanian Roma - Net-Rom; Re-imagining Development for Mobile and Marginalised Peoples - ReDeMP; Nomadism and Spatial Politics: Identities, Development and Environment; Mal)usus legis. Administrative labour regulations and traditional itinerant trades of Roma and Sinti; Contemporary Antiziganism in Italian Local Regulatory Devices). She has carried out several ethnographic researches, mainly dealing with the culture, history and society of Roma groups in Southern Italy or migrated from Romania to Italy and with antigypsyism/antinomadism.
