Erika Branchini is contract Professor of General Psychology at the Department of Human Sciences.

Within the Disciplinary Scientific Sector to which she belongs, her research activity, developed within the perspective of experimental phenomenology, focuses on reasoning processes.

Specifically, the research interests concern how perceptually grounded contraries influence various aspects of the thought processes studied.

In detail, she investigates the effects of manipulating contraries, in terms of solution time, success (i.e. correct/wrong solution), search process of solution, in tasks of:

(i) insight problem solving;

(ii) inductive reasoning;

(iii) creativity.

The research group develops scientifically sound tools to understand the psychology of customers/consumers, therefore tastes, perceptions, emotions, motivations, personality, expectations... in relation to a specific product or service (a drink, a perfume, a food, a danger signal, an advertising message, a banking service...).
