Curriculum

Roberto Burro is Associate Professor of General Psychology in the Department of Human Sciences. Within the Scientific Discipline Sector "General Psychology" (PSIC-01/A), the main research areas, according to a phenomenological-experimental perspective, are: Psychophysics, Spatial perception, Visuo-spatial problem solving, Sensory and emotional analysis, Development of instruments for measuring psychological variables, Personality psychology and individual differences. Specifically, the research skills concern:
1) Analysis and formalization of the existing laws of connection between the world of defined and measurable physical stimuli, the world of the main psychological sensations (sight, smell, taste, touch, hearing) and emotions.
2) Understanding the relationships that people have with the environment in the surrounding space (exteroceptive processes) and with their own body dimension (enteroceptive processes).
3) Structuring of tests/questionnaires for the quantification of psychological variables in order to improve the diagnostic deepening of the patient.
4) Study of the personal characteristics of the consumer/buyer and their implications on market and industry products.

The research group develops scientifically sound tools to understand the psychology of customers/consumers, therefore tastes, perceptions, emotions, motivations, personality, expectations... in relation to a specific product or service (a drink, a perfume, a food, a danger signal, an advertising message, a banking service...). These psychological aspects guide people's behaviors and preferences, both in terms of choice and purchase behaviors and those of disinterest and avoidance.
