Learning outcomes

As from the second half of the twentieth century Western Society has introduced an important school policy concerning disability.
The way of thinking of people with disability and their problems have extremely changed and a new definition of the significance of disability has taken place as a result of the cultural and scientific expectations introduced at an international level in the latest decades. The cultural revolution, we are referring to, regards in the first place the overcoming of the so-called medical-scientific pattern of disability in favour of the social pattern. If it is not clear which kind of staff must provide for the education of the disables as well as if it not clear through which scientific paradigm the phenomenon can be considered , we can’t put in the right perspective the intervention in favour of the disabled people. The course of Special Pedagogy wants to offer the students a wide and deep knowledge of the present concepts of disability starting from the latest international documents on the subject.
