Social ethics is the branch of moral philosophy concerned with the study of individuals’ moral behaviours as seen within their social and historical contexts. It aims to create a public space of opinion so that the confrontation among the different private, individual moral notions may eventually result in largely shared choices.
Communication, globalization, democracy.
The course will focus on today’s global reality of communication, seen from the perspective of a world ethics. Two questions, in particular, will be further discussed, because they force us to rethink the very principles of democratic life: the importance of living within a “society of the simulacre”, and the big role played by religious traditions.
