The aim of this module is to experience how to build up a simple experiment to explain with a practical approach topics like: the cell structure and the microorganisms, the plant structure and function, animals and the perception through senses, principles of Physiology.

Syllabus

Monocular and binocular vision, ocular dominance, saccadic suppression, mydriasis and myosis, blind spot, visual field, optical illusions.

Biology laboratory to understand how to approach microscopy, enzimology, pigment extractions, pH measurements, physiology and perception with children. Evaluation of the number of taste buds. Bitter taste: the perception of PTC, taster or not-taster. Extraction of anthocyanins from vegetables to measure pH of food and solutions. Amiylase enzymatic essay from saliva or barley buds extract. Evaluation of the composition of pigments in spinach leaves, chromatographic separation of chlorophyll and catotemoids.
