The course enables students to develop knowledge about the concept of care, that is a core concept which is essential in order to construct the educational issue. It also develops skills relating to the basic conceptual analysis of the topic chosen as well as to the recognition of the ways of acting, which are typical of a good educational practice.
The course develops a methodological background providing students with operative skills for doing interview, which is a typical inquiry approach of qualitative research.
Starting from a perspective according to which pedagogy is a practical knowledge, which develops through a relation to other subjects, this course considers the construction of educational issue, relating to research both theoretical and practical.
Students take two modules:
•Theoretical research
The course considers educational process from the perspective of the concept of “care” and examines specifically the issue of emotions, which are essential and also problematic aspects of educational practice as well as practice of care.
•Empirical research
Students are introduced to the inquiry technique and its procedures, from a perspective defining educational research as a process which aims at constructing practical knowledge based on rigorous method (rigorously structured), in order to do interview properly .
A session of practical activity will take place in order to provide students with operative skills relating to the right ways of conducting interviews as well as analysing them critically.
