Learning outcomes

The course is designed as a general introduction to computer science by taking into account philosophical principles and historical milestones. In addition, students are tought principles of data communication, net, internet and principles of e-learning.
This course provides students with methodologies and tools to teach computer science topics to K-12.

- Brief history of Information Technology and Computers
- The Computer: its parts and shapes.
- Data processing with the computer: the CPU and its world
- Memorizing data into a computer: storage devices.
- Interacting with the computer: input and output devices.
- Computer nets: data transport and data fruition. The InterNet: the global network and its principles.
- The operating system of a computer: interfaces and suites.
- Softwares: word processing, spreadsheet, presentation programs and databases.
- Algorithms and programming languages: evolution and use.
- e-Learning concepts
- Computer science for K-12

Assessment methods and criteria

The final examination consists of a written test (either with or without poredefined answers) that is based upon the developed program. Students who pass the written test are eligible for an oral examination.
