We will ask what being close to childhood, as an epistemological and theory-practice approach, means in the present day and within our cultural paradigm: from an educational point of view between mothers/children and between adults, mothers/fathers/teachers and the structuring of childhood services, starting from how the spaces and times of the relationship itself are conceived. Finally we will ask what advantage this proximity can provide in fundamental day-to-day existence and behaviour.
As we are involved in a continuous and profoundly changing society, in amongst economic trends and the need to learn to live with other cultures, the position of being close to childhood would seem to provide the opportunity of rethinking relationships, languages and organisations.
The programmes will be based on reading texts, watching documentaries and film clips as well as traditional teaching set ups (with as much student participation as possible) and will face important theoretical/practical questions: childhood’s main characteristics (also drawing from the student’s own childhood experiences); the main lines of a non-abstract pedagogical knowledge, together with practical and every day knowledge and experience in the field.
The following authors will participate during the course of in-depth lessons studying several important theoretical/practical obstacles: Cinzia Albertini, Il pensiero politico dei servizi; Maria Cristina Mecenero, Il sapere nella pratica quotidiana; Sara Riggio, Spazi e tempi nella relazione educativa.
