Curriculum

Davide Poggi is an associate professor of theoretical philosophy at the Department of Human Sciences. His philosophical interests are axed on the issue of knowledge, which is the starting point for an un-prejudiced (critical) examination of both the human subject and the “external world” that is able to balance, on the one hand, the need for realism and, on the other hand, the awareness of the role of the subject in the cognitive process.
He thoroughly studied the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries theories about self, person and human knowledge: the examination of Locke’s psychogenetic approach has also been the starting point for my enquiries about the Lockean reception (paying particular attention to the role of P. Coste’s translations, which were essential for the circulation of the Lockean thought across Europe).
More recently, He focused on the debate about Realism, which I examined in both the Italian context and the international one.

Areas of Expertise:

  • Theories of Knowledge;
  • Ontology and Metaphysics of Human Person;
  • Translation Studies;
  • History of Ideas and Problems.
