Learning outcomes

The course focuses on theoretical, epistemological and methodological issues, related to learning and communication processes in formative contexts. In addition, the course allows students to integrate their theoretical knowledge in order to design intervention programs in specific formative contexts. Specifically, the expected learning outcomes are as follows:

1) knowledge and understanding of communication and learning processes and their relationship, with reference to the main theoretical models;
2) knowledge and understanding of language and communication dimensions, specifically of the pragmatic area, and of their role in learning and relational processes in various contexts;
3) the ability to critically take into account the relationship between individual, social, educative and cultural aspects in order to determine the learning and communicative processes in a formative context;
4) the ability to apply the knowledge acquired in order to design intervention programs in various formative contexts, promoting individual and social well-being.

Syllabus

1) Introduction. Principal theoretical, epistemological, methodological and applied issues on learning and communicative processes in formative contexts.
2) Verbal and non verbal communication, theoretical models, dimensions and characteristics. The relationship between language, cognition and emotion. Specific aspects of communication in some formative contexts. Assertiveness as a construct. Pragmatics of communication. The Assertiveness training.
3) The communication formation. Examples of formation programs in educational, social and sanitary contexts.
4) Theoretical models of learning and knowledge development in formative contexts. Learning as a social process. Learning and innovation.
5) Examples of projects and intervention programs in formative contexts.

Assessment methods and criteria

Exam

The exam will consist of a written test only. The student will have 2 hours to answer 5 open questions.
