Learning outcomes

The experiences of daily life that are visible in various social contexts, find they link in the symbolic universe that embraces them all. The course places the objective to analyze the degree-level of integration between the various truths and spheres of meant in the contemporary society, characterized from the cultural relativism, the generalization of the risk and the pluralism of the values.

Syllabus

After a presentation of the general theories that focus the relationship between culture and society (culture and social system; culture and social interaction), it will be highlighted the social, economic, political and cultural processes that have modified radically the rational function of the symbolic universe related to the individual experience, which have generated both processes of individualization and deep fragmentation in the symbolic universe. The subjects discussed during the course will be the following: process of individualization; modernity, globalization; identity.
