Learning outcomes

basic knowledge of the history and aesthetics of cinema, along with skills for the analysis of a filmic text.

Syllabus

Contents of the course: filming the actor: theory, technique and style. The course will offer an introduction to history of cinema and to the main cinematographic codes, along with the analysis of some techniques of actors production from the origins to nowadays. The course will take into consideration particularly some production techniques as well: golden divism (Garbo, Dietrich), the Stanislawski’s method (Brando, Dean), the underacting of the nouvelle vague and two extreme models of working with the actor: B. Dumont and A. Zulawski.
