Learning outcomes

Module Prof. Elena Trifiletti
This module offers an introduction to Social Psychology, its areas of
interest, theories and methodologies, with a focus on the study of human
behaviour and how it is influenced by other individuals and groups. The
first aim of the module is to provide students with knowledge and
understanding of the main theories and research methods in Social
Psychology. Furthermore, the module aims to develop students' capacities
to interpret real-life events in terms of key socio-psychological
concepts. To achieve this goal, the course encourages the acquisition of
knowledge that goes beyond mere memorisation and promotes the ability to
reflect critically about the causes of human behaviour. A further aim is
to develop students' abilities in the description, explanation and
interpretation of experimental and correlational research findings in
the field.
Module prof. Monica Pedrazza:
This module provides student with knowledge and understanding of human behavior in organizations, in formal and in informal contests. In addition this module provides students with knowledge and understanding of affiliation and aggressive human behavior. It also highlights the relationship between violent media exposure and aggression. Students will be able to explain and recognize different types of interpersonal aggressive behavior. Adult attachment studies in organizations.
Prof. Barbara Krahè and Prof. Mariola Paruzel-Czachura will present results of their recent studies on the relationship between violent media exposure and aggressive behavior.

The module covers the following topics:
- social cognition and perception,
- social categorization and stereotypes,
- self, personal and social identity,
- attitudes and persuasion,
- adult attachment and social relationships
- prosocial behaviour,
- social influence in groups,
- intergroup relations, prejudice, and discrimination

The module covers the following topics:
- adult attachment,
affiliation and aggressive behaviour.

Assessment methods and criteria

The exam will be written and it will include five open-ended questions
and three multiple-choice questions (taken from both modules). Responses to each
open-ended question will be evaluated by assigning a score between 0 and
4. For multiple-choice questions, the score is 0 (incorrect response) or
2 (correct response). Scores will be summed up to form a final score.
For responses to open-ended questions, the evaluation criteria include:
relevance, quality and richness of arguments, appropriate language.
