Doctorate research program
Ksenija Joksimovic is a Ph.D. student in Human Sciences of the University of Verona, focusing on the inclusive societies research area (gender and queer studies). They are conducting a research on the resilience of transgender and gender non-conforming social justice activists, from different European countries.
Ksenija is a social justice activist and educator working in the field of critical, anti-oppressive education for social transformation. They hold a B.A. in Adult Education from the University of Belgrade, Serbia, where they were awarded the best student in the cohort/cycle. In 2018, Ksenija graduated from Erasmus Mundus International Master in Adult Education for Social Change, coordinated by the University of Glasgow, and delivered jointly by the University of Glasgow, University of Malta, Tallinn University and Open University of Cyprus. They hold a postgraduate certificate in Counseling. 
Prior to their Ph.D. studies, Ksenija was involved in queer activism at the international level, first as a member of the Executive Board, and later a Co-Chair of IGLYO-International LGBTQI Youth and Student Organization, based in Brussels, as well as in grassroots activism in Serbia, through an activist group ''Youth Forum for Gender Equality'' mainly using theatre of the oppressed methodology in their non-formal educational work.
They are an author of the book Activist Identity Development of Transgender Social Justice Activists and Educators, published by Brill | Sense in March 2020. One book chapter is focused on the presentation of  Ksenija's Master thesis research on the same topic, conducted with eight trans activists from 8 different countries.
