Michela Balocchi, PhD. in Sociology and Political Sociology. Marie Curie Fellow at the American University - Washington DC (US) 2014-2016, and at the University of Verona (Italy) 2016-2017, with a 3 years project on the sociological aspects of the management and medicalization of intersex variations (FP7-PEOPLE-2013-IOF European Union Marie Curie Actions n.627162, International Outgoing Fellowship).
She has collaborated with many Universities (Florence, Bergamo, Perugia, Arezzo, etc.) both as lecturer and researcher. She has been professor for various courses on gender studies, gender and ethnic social inequalities, discriminations based on gender identity and sexual orientation, intersex human rights, methodology in social sciences at Careggi University Hospital (2009-2015).
She was Adjunct Professor of Sociologia dei Processi Culturali, Terapia della Neuro e Psicomotricità dell'Età Evolutiva, Department of Neurological and Psychiatric sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Florence (2009-2013).
She is on the board of PoliTeSse, Politics and Theories of Sexuality since its born, www.politesse.it.
She is co-founder of the group "intersexioni" and web editor of the namesake website, www.intersexioni.it.
