Knowledge and understanding At the end of the course, students will have to: • know the theoretical constructs necessary to contextualise the Inclusive Education perspective in the Italian education system • know the teaching strategies, with particular reference to those connected to the creation of inclusive learning environments • know the methodologies and strategies for the development of an inclusive teaching action - Applied knowledge and understanding At the end of the course, students will have to: • be able to present the acquired knowledge in an effective and organic way • be able to identify and argue the connections relating to the acquired knowledge • be able to use the acquired knowledge within professional practice
Contents The content of the course is in accordance with the provisions of the legislation. Specifically, the following topics will be explored: • The concept of inclusion and specific policies for students with SEN. • The ICF (International Classification of Functioning, WHO, 2001). • School organization for inclusion: barriers and facilitators. • The national IEP and the role of the curriculum teacher. • PDP models
Assessment: The assessment will serve only an educational, self-assessment purpose and will consist of one or more quizzes with closed-ended questions related to the topics outlined in the syllabus. Questions and answers will be taken from the course handouts.
