The course aims to explain the origins, role, and significance of macroeconomics within economic science. Macroeconomics stands in relation to economics as—by analogy—cosmology does to physics. Understanding it helps us grasp how the world works. The lectures are therefore intended to provide both historical and interpretative keys to understanding reality, with a particular focus on how national wealth is measured and what it consists of.
The program explores the following topics:
1. Macroeconomics and Wealth: How to Use a Case Study
2. From the Tableau to Modern Accounting: Beyond the Case Study
3. Wealth: GDP Formulas and Teaching Strategies to Recall Them
4. Wealth: GDP from ISTAT Data and Its Pitfalls
5. Wealth and Its Causes: The Goods Market with Diagrams and Flows
The examination procedures, assessment criteria, and grading system, between written and oral examination, are established by law under the Prime Ministerial Decree (DPCM) of August 4, 2023.
