Learning outcomes

The two parts of the course (“Educational research” and “Innovation and cooperative actions”) have an integrated program and complementary objectives. The course is aimed at providing knowledge and skills concerning the realization of innovative educative and didactic paths, that can be evaluated in their effectiveness through rigorous research processes. Students can acquire the reflective and heuristic abilities that are necessary to design and study educative experiences structured starting from the investigation of the scholastic context and of the needs of teachers and children.

Syllabus

The course will present the methods of educative research, that will be exemplified through the presentation of educative/didactic and research projects realized with children of kindergarten and primary school. The main focus will be on:
- The ecological paradigm and the naturalistic epistemology
- The methods of the qualitative research
- The educative research and the “research for children”
- Experiences of emotional education
- Experiences of ethical education
- Experiences of Service learning

Assessment methods and criteria

The exam will consist in a written test common to the two parts of the course, with open questions concerning the exam texts. For students who attend regularly the course, a part of the exam could be substituted by the design of an educative research.

EVALUATION CRITERIA
The evaluation will be in thirtieths and will take into account the following elements:
- knowledge of the theoretical contents presented and their connection with the practice;
- ability to critically review the educative/didactic and research experiences presented;
- mastery of reflective and heuristic skills concerning the design of educative researches.
