The teaching objectives are to make know and reflect the student on the issues proposed by the philosophy and theology of Liberation. This philosophical approach (well known but in fact little known) focuses on praxis and, despite its ecclesiastic origin, opens to diverse social and cultural applications.
The course of studies will cover the theme of "Liberation" as it has been elaborated since the Medellin conference in 1968 to the present day. We will focus especially on the philosophical side (especially in Enrique Dussel) of the problem, leaving in the background the theological part, that anyhow will be discussed (in the works of Gustavo Gutierrez and Leonardo Boff) as an essential component of the discourse on "Liberation." The main theme of the lectures will be the importance of praxis as starting point of every philosophy and the importance of this point of view in the cultural and social development of the realities of a peripheral and oppressed world.
