Learning outcomes

The course aims to provide to professional educators the appropriate knowledge concerning intercultural pedagogy, that is considered the best solution to pluralism, to globalisation, to the multiethnic and multicultural society. Besides the historical development, particular attention will be given to the methodological and didactic aspects, as well as with a comparison with other European countries. Given the changes due to the globalisation and the advent of multicultural societies, the course addresses the different pedagogical answers (metacultural, transcultural, multicultural, and intercultural pedagogy).

Theoretical knowledge about intercultural pedagogy is fundamental to form the ability of recognizing and managing in a pedagogically efficient way all types of exclusion and discrimination in the environments in which the subject works. The course deals in particular with the schooling, familiar, political, religious, and interstate contexts.
- Knowledge: funding concept of the intercultural pedagogical discourse; main differences among metacultural, transcultural, multicultural and intercultural pedagogy; intercultural pedagogy development in the different countries.
-Understanding: role of pedagogy among the other pedagogic answers to complexity; understanding of its importance in order to recognize and face the challenges, risks and opportunities in the multicultural society.
-Application skills: the course provides intercultural knowledge aimed at identifying the essential elements in the drafting of educational projects in the complex, interdependent and multicultural society.
