Learning outcomes

The goal of the course is to introduce students to the rules and practises of Italian criminal enforcement system, and to the problems faced by this system. Among the issues examinated, special emphasis will be placed on the type, nature and purposes of the social operator ‘s assistance both in relation to the prisoners’ treatment and in relation to the possibility of people detained after conviction by a Court to serve their punishment outside the prison.

Constitutional principles and international acts related to criminal enforcement law- The Italian Criminal Enforcement System: general principles– The prisoners’ treatment – The punishment alternative measures – The enforcement procedure - Special rules concerning different types of prisoners.

It’s necessary to know the sources of law. For this reason, the study of the handbook must be added with the use of Criminal Enforcement Law (L. 26 luglio 1975 n.354 and D.P.R. 30 giugno 200, n.230), updated to 2010.

For the students attending the lessons, more information will be given during the course.

Assessment methods and criteria

It consists in an oral examination.
