“Epistemology of educational research” deals with issues relating to educational research, focusing its attention on links between theoretical and practical research.
Starting from a perspective according to which educational research is a process which aims at constructing practical knowledge based on rigorous method (rigorously structured), the course introduces students to the essentials of epistemology of pedagogical knowledge, which is open and not defined, and whose development needs to be constantly rooted in experience. Indeed, qualitative research in pedagogy will be taken into deep consideration.
The course considers different types of:
research phylosophies,
research methodologies,
research tools.
The course takes two modules:
- a theoretical module relating to the analysis of research paradigms;
- a practical module providing students with operative skills relating to the right ways of conducting interviews as well as analysing them critically.
