Lesson timetable

Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to provide a basis for the study of various kinds of disabilities at the different lifestages. In addition, fundamental concepts of rehabilitation and their integration with educational activities will be discussed.

Syllabus

Definitions of disease, disability and handicap
Fundamental concepts of rehabilitation: autonomy, individual activities, deficits and capacities, use of different techniques
Motivation and attributive style
Childhood: infantile cerebral paralysis, learning disorders, mental retardation
Adulthood: traumatic brain injury, spinal damage
Old age: mental deterioration
