Aesthetics is the study of beauty and art as well as of the general aesthetic dimension (perceiving, feeling, affection). This investigation concerns the relationship of art with history and ages. Goal of aesthetics as well as of philosophy is “to create concepts” (Gilles Deleuze) investigating the ontological meaning of works of art as well as their relationship with the history and men’s life. The aim of the course is to clarify the meaning of this philosophical investigation in relation to significant issues and authors.
Contents of the course: In the advance course we’ll investigate the issue of language style and sense in relation to psychoanalysis.
Oral discussion and comment of the text-books in group A and B.
Students who might have attended the preliminary course in precedent years must read Materials of Aesthetics 2006-2007, edited by Dr. G. Antonello: available starting from November at the library Erasmo or downloadable on the Philosophy section web sit. Contents of the reading: a)introductive seminars on G. Deleuze’s philosophy by Dr. Antonello; b) pieces of texts concerning the issue of works of art.
