Learning outcomes

History of Religions is an historical discipline. It’s a research based on positive-inductive investigation, philology and comparison. Terms like “religion” and “religious” are estended by historian to universal words: religion becomes a concrete universal.

Syllabus

Contents of the course:
1. Preliminary section. Historical acquaintance of different kinds of religion and of the issues that appear connected to the discipline’s development `till our days.
2. Monographic section. Pilgrimage in the three Abrahamics religions. The cultual and ethical importance of pilgrimage in the three religions around “the book”, reklevance of the anthropological and sociological dinamics. Historical source: l’Itinerarium Egeriae, a travel diary written by a cristian pilgrim in the IV century.

Students from four-year degree must agree an addictional bibliography with the professor.
