Curriculum

Cristina Lonardi is engaged in research lines concerning health and quality of life, personal and social well-being. Through qualitative research methods, indeed, she deals with issues related to Sociology of Health, including quality of life in disease conditions and in contexts of chronicity, health related stigma, invisible diseases, end of life, illness narratives (digital/on the web and not). The research she conducts, both qualitative and quantitative, is often in collaboration with health professionals (doctors, nurses) and care professionals. She is a member of the Editorial Board of the Italian Sociological Review, member of the Restorative Justice Table of the CdS of Social Work and member of the Scientific Council of the Sociology of Health and Medicine Section of the Italian Association of Sociology - Ais.

RE-WOrk REsearching for REmaking Work and Organizing
Il Centro nasce dall’idea di studiare e ipotizzare possibili percorsi di ripensamento del lavoro e delle organizzazioni, orientati al miglioramento della qualità della vita lavorativa, avendo cura di radicare le proprie analisi dentro i processi in atto e di costruire relazioni con attori significativi interessati ai temi del Centro. RE-WOrk ha principalmente lo scopo di promuovere e realizzare attività di ricerca e divulgazione scientifica sui temi del cambiamento del lavoro (principalmente in termini di organizzazione del lavoro, contenuto del lavoro, cultura del lavoro e sistemi di regolazione) e delle implicazioni che i cambiamenti producono sulla qualità della vita lavorativa delle persone al lavoro.

The research group develops and delves into issues related to the sociology of health and illness, through qualitative and quantitative research in collaboration with care professionals.

Epistemology and Methods of Qualitative Research The theme is rejected in terms of the biographical approach to the knowledge of social reality. This approach looks at the knowledge of life stories, life paths and experiences of people as a means of analysis of society and its changes and interpretation of social reality, individual but also collective, in the sense that the biographical approach allows access to connections between individual life experiences and social reality, between the strictly individual dimension and the social context. Sociology
Narrative Medicine Co-construction and analysis of illness narratives, with reference to the representation of the subjective experience of illness, the explication of the social meaning of illness experience, and illness as an embodiment of social experience. Analysis of the ways in which people ascribe meaning to the illness experience in which they are involved, entrusting the narrative with the interpretive task of (re)constructing such meanings. Sociology
Health and Quality of Life The theme focuses on the social conditions, structures and practices that influence the production of health. Specific objects of research are: the trajectories of interactions between bio-psycho-social systems (disease history, life course, etc.); health structures and decisions (resources-operators, health management, risks and errors); the analysis of health outcomes (subjective patient perceptions, quality of life, patient satisfaction).
