Learning outcomes

The course aims at providing the students with the basic concepts concerning general Anthropology, with reference to contents, to the main debates which have taken place in the history of this discipline, to methods, and finally to ethical issues.

Syllabus

As an introduction to anthropological knowledge, a set of ten key issues will be highlighted and discussed, starting from the most classical ones (such as politics, economics, cosmology, etc.) to the contemporary ones (such as environmentalism, “developmentalism”, boundaries, etc.). Everything will be discussed against the background of the main theories concerning the history of Anthropology. A part of the course will also deal with School Anthropology and will focus on the exemplifying case of the Rom and the Sinti.
