Curriculum

Paola Dusi is Full Professor of General and Social Pedagogy at the Department of Human Sciences. Her main research areas include:

  • Processes of subjectivation in complex and heterogeneous social contexts, particularly focusing on individuals and families with a migrant background. Over time, her attention has focused on children and young people of 'second generation.'

  • Educational relationships within families and schools.

  • Teacher training, with particular focus on the school-family relationship and the dynamics triggered by various actors during a period of profound socio-cultural transformation of roles, models, and parental functions.

From here, two research areas have developed, both theoretically and empirically:

  • The phenomenology of recognition, understood as a relational and socio-political modality foundational to democratic and egalitarian societies, which serves as the basis for educational processes in both the family and the school.

  • Decolonial and intersectional approaches in the reinterpretation of intercultural competencies (ethical-political, theoretical, reflective, and methodological-didactic) necessary for teachers to manage the relational and educational dynamics that characterize contemporary heterogeneous school environments.

  • Contemporary adolescence and their families: educational needs and community services.
