Curriculum

Carlo Chiurco is a researcher oif moral philosophy at the Department of Human Sciences. After working as a civil servant for the Italian Ministry of Artistic and Cultural Heritage from 1999 to 2010, he became Assistant professor at the Department of Human Sciences of the University of Verona in December 2011. His research activity focuses on the various roots of contemporary world and on the theory and practice of caring. It includes: 
  1. Analysis of the forms of contemporary nihilism, especially the Italian situation as a laboratory of new versions of authoritarianism (“Berlusconism”, populism); the notions of splendor and magnificence, the nature and meaning of objects, the dismeasure of desire and the challenges it poses, the One/Many intellectual polarity, the various notions of waste/loss; the relation between violence and the sacred; Nietzsche’s thought, especially the problem of liberation; the relation between philosophy and art (particularly painting); medieval philosophy (especially Twelfth-century philosophy).
  2. Caring and/in relations; ethics applied to the health sector (i.e., nursing); caring and emotions; defining the meaning of good relations.
