Learning outcomes

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
Multidisciplinary knowledge aimed at critical analysis of specific social problems

ability to interpret the different situations of hardship and to promote the well-being of the community.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
The course aims to provide the knowledge necessary for a Social Worker to understand neuropsychic development and its neurological and mental disorders, in the age between zero and eighteen, because many social interventions in the area of 'developmental age, specific problem area, are multi-professional, especially in situations of strong physical impairment and social situations at risk. The course will show the typical prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilita-tion of infantile neuropsychiatry.

Anatomy and Embryology of the Nervous System
The neurological assessment of preterm infants
The neurological assessment of the full-term baby
The normal development of motor, cognitive, psychological, and relational functions
The use of MRI in the evaluation of brain maturation
The EEG use in the evaluation of brain maturation
The 'Floppy Infant' (clinical and instrumental framework for the etiological diagnosis)
The cerebral palsies
Infectious and inflammatory diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system
Sleep disorders
Epilepsies
Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD)
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
Shaken baby syndrome and other forms of child abuse
