Learning outcomes

the aim is to explore the discovery of the mountains as a consequence of the complex interrelations between natural sciences, literature and the arts.

Syllabus

Prerequisits: none.

Contents: The discovery of mountains in European culture. From Renaissance to Romanticism, natural history, literature and the arts fostered a new appreciation of mountains that brought about new attitudes toward nature.

Methods: traditional lecture and contributions by the students.
