Contents of course:
When in «Nuova Antologia» Luigi Pirandello publish an essay entitled «Illustratori, attori e traduttori» his observations represent the most convincing point of arrival of a lively cultural debate aiming to denounce the Italian stage precarious conditions in the early twentieth century and to assert the primacy of drama conception on theatrical staging. At a distance of little more than a decade the materials that become part of Sei personaggi in cerca d’autore are the basis of important theoretical statements that identify the real focus of Pirandello’s work in the contrast between the “phantoms of Christian imaginary” and the “squalor of modernity”.

Teaching methods: Lectures and analysis of primary and secondary sources such as archival fonts, iconography, performance recordings, films, videos, audio recordings, etc.
