Learning outcomes

The course aims to:
- enhance a deep understanding of qualitative research epistemology and methods in educational contexts
- provide knowledge and training in interviewing techniques in educational research.

Syllabus

Basing on a vision of educational research as a process aimed at building knowledge through practice, the lessons will present the main epistemological and methodological issues associated with doing research in educational settings (school, family, local services).
Methodological issues of qualitative research will be presented through the analysis of research reports in educational settings.
The second part of the course provides knowledge of the interview technique in educational research through a workshop.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written examination based on open questions.
