The course enables students to develop knowledge and methodologies of counseling in its basic and educational elements:
a) self-knowledge and investigation of spontaneous attitudes;
b) investigation of ways of being useful for a good relationship in education;
c) development of basic communication skills (active listening, non-directive communication, client-centered communication, consultation skills).
Focusing on counseling in education, the course examines issues and methodologies useful to develop the basic counseling skills working in an educational relationship.
The course topics are:
a) relational dimension in education (features and methodologies);
b) personal attitudes/ways of being in an trusting relationship;
c) counseling skills in education (principles of interpersonal communication).
Course structure:
- lectures: introduction and examination of issues on counseling in education;
- workshops: activities to develop and practice communication skills and self-investigation techniques.
