Lesson timetable

Learning outcomes

Goals of the course are
(1) readings of the first two parts of the Organon,
(2) source individuation,
(3) reconstruction of the ancient and
(4) modern reception.

Syllabus

Contents of the course: Aristotle’s Categories and De Interpretatione. The course investigates the issues involved in two of the books that have mostly influenced logics, ontology and Language philosophy. Subsequently, the seminar will analyse Aristotle as regards his connection to Plato and the reception of Porfirio and Boezio’s ancient interpretations.

Assessment methods and criteria

Oral discussion and comment of the text-books, final written exam and possible written exercises.
