Research groups

The Group proposes a research project on the topic "School and social cohesion in Italy". This research project addresses the capacity of the school, as an educational institution, to cope with all sort of differences among individuals and foster their social inclusion and participation in different contexts. This in response also to the call of Goal 4 "Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all" of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (UN 2015). Particularly, the research aims to investigate the relationship between the activities produced by the schools to encourage social cohesion and participation and the citizenship education (interpersonal trust, engagement, sense of belonging, civicness, etc.). The field of study covered is that of the First Level of Education in state institutions in Italy: 1) Primary and lower secondary schools; 2) CPIA (Provincial Centers for Adult Instruction). The Group was active in 2018, 2019, and 2020 and concluded its activity with the publication of the book L.
