Provide knowledge on basic concepts of the discipline (such as, for example, culture, identity, ethnicity, multiculturalism, assimilation, acculturation, integration, etc..). Develop a critical approach to our knowledge and openness to knowledge of the Other. Develop a reflection of organizational experiences in other socio-cultural contexts and the relationship between spaces / places and people who live there.
The course is divided into three parts: the first will address concepts and basics of the anthropological approach, such as culture, ethnicity, multiculturalism, assimilation, integration, etc. ethnocentrism. In the second, we turn to a specific experience, as narrated and analyzed by an ethnographic study in which the protagonists are a few women working in the field of fish in a coastal area near Dakar (Senegal). The ethnographer provides a detailed account about the aggregation and organization that these women have built. The last part of the course explores the relationship between people and places in urban areas, through specific examples from field research.
