The course aims to:
•Explore the theoretical dimension of educational knowledge as construction of perspectives which are related to practice and to the ways we look at the world.
•Promote consciousness about the complex relation between educational theory and practice.
The course is composed of two parts:
1.In the first part we deal with theory in education analysing some authors and key-topics of reflection on education, paying particular attention to the XX century. In this part, we also examine the relation between theory and educational practice.
2. The second part is dedicated to John Dewey’s reflection about experience and education and on his idea of education as a means of social change. In this section we approach Dewey’s thought through the text “Democracy and Education”.
